Idol
From a single picture of an object it makes a three-dimensional model in the form of Gaussian splats (the 3DGS .ply format). It takes a render, a generated image or a photo, removes the background itself, frames the object and fills in sides that the shot does not show, up to a million Gaussians. It runs on an ordinary graphics card with 7.2 GB of memory, in two seconds according to the authors. There are modes for renders and for photographs. The result opens in any splat viewer. The weights are Apache 2.0, but running it needs two gated encoders (DINOv3 and the VAE from FLUX.2-dev) with their own terms, which affects commercial use.

Frequently asked questions
Can Idol be used in a commercial project?
With conditions. License: Apache 2.0 (running it needs access to two gated encoders: DINOv3 from Meta and the VAE from FLUX.2-dev, check their terms separately). Restrictions vary — region, company revenue, attribution requirements. Have a lawyer check the terms before a commercial launch.
What hardware does Idol need?
At minimum: One GPU with 16–80 GB — mid-size versions. Without a GPU the model is not practical. You can calculate the exact VRAM for your model size and context in the hardware calculator.
Does Idol support Russian?
Language does not matter for this model: it does not work with text.
Where can I download Idol and what does it cost?
The Idol weights are open and free to download. You only pay for the hardware it runs on and for the setup. Source links are at the bottom of this page.
How I deploy it for clients
- SelectionI pick the model size for your task and hardware and test it on your examples.
- DeploymentI deploy it on your server or in a closed network and provide an API.
- Fine-tuningI fine-tune it on your data (LoRA) or connect a knowledge base — whichever is cheaper for the task.
- IntegrationI connect it to your CRM, ERP, bot, website or team chat and set up monitoring.
