Small single-pair models run on a CPU, so heavy hardware is not always required. The downsides are real: on colloquial speech, idioms and dense legal phrasing open translation trails mature commercial services, and an important document still needs a human read before it goes out. Rare language pairs are covered unevenly, so quality has to be tested on your own texts.
